Courtesy of iTunes, today we have the latest trailer for David Fincher’s upcoming US remake of the Swedish thriller, The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, based on the novel by Stiegg Larsson. The earlier teaser trailer featured an awesome cover of Lez Zeppelin’s ‘Immigrant Song’, in Trent Reznor and Karen O fashion. That is sadly missing from this trailer, but here we get a good decent amount of footage and a bit more plot. And a first listen to Reznor’s second score for Fincher following his Award-winning music for The Social Network.

The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo follows investigative journalist, Mikael Blomkivst (Daniel Craig) is given the task of solving a decades old mystery of the Vanger family, a mystery which has continued to plauge the mind of Henrik Vanger (Christopher Plummer). To help him in the investigation, Blomkivst is partnered with hacker/researcher Lisbeth Salander (Rooney Mara), an unconvential young woman with dark secrets of her own. Check out the trailer below:

It certainly looks perfectly suited to Fincher’s trademark visceral style, and Mara looks to be quite impressive in the role of the dark Lisbeth. The score as well seems to be very much in the same vein as Reznor’s previous work. Although I wasn’t really much of a fan of the Swedish original, I am looking forward to this one being a fan of Fincher’s previous movies =. And this really is right up his street. We’ll see the results on Boxing Day, as the film is released in cinemas on the 26th of December.
