The trailer for Steven Spielberg’s motion-capture adaptation of Herge’s classic comic books, The Adventures of Tintin, has been released today.

The movie is intended to be the start of a new trilogy and is compromised from three stories, following the young intrepid reporter (played by Jamie Bell) and his dog Snowy, as they become involved in a search for sunken treasure with drunk Captain Haddock (Andy Serkis) and detectives Thomson and Thomson (Simon Pegg and Nick Forst). Check out the trailer below:

Initial reactions? The animation is very impressive, and I’d expect there is still quite a bit of work that needs doing on it, hence why there isn’t a huge array of footage. But it looks promising, and certainly has some great talent behind it, with this being Spielberg’s first film as director since 2008’s Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.  The movie is also produced by Peter Jackson, who intends on directing the next installment, with a script written by Doctor Who chief Steven Moffat, Edgar Wright and Joe Cornish. Daniel Craig, Mackenzie Cook and Toby Jones round out the cast.

The Adventures of Tintin is set for an October 26th UK release.
