The power of the Beard can gather any cast he wants, and now it looks like Steven Spielberg is gathering up one hell of a cast for his upcoming biopic of Abraham Lincoln, which already has Daniel Day-Lewis and Sally Field locked in to play Lincoln and his wife.

Today comes the news that Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Tommy Lee Jones have joined the cast as well. Gordon-Levit will play Lincoln’s longest surviving son Robert Todd Lincoln, whereas Jones will be playing Thaddeus Stevens, a Republican congressman who campaigned to end slavery and helped the President write the legislation that helped fund the Civil War.

Other actors closing in for roles include James Spader, Hal Holbrook, John Hawkes, Tim Blake Nelson, Bruce McGill, Joseph Cross, David Costible, Byron Jennings, Boris McGiver, Gloria Reuben, Jeremy Strong, Dakin Matthews and David Warshofsky.

The cameras begin rolling on this at the end of the year, with a release for next December on the cards.
