Will Smith has, of late, done more to help his kids establish their own careers rather than making movies, with producing son Jaden’s film projects such as The Karate Kid, and daughter Willow’s pop career with Whip My Hair. Thanks for that Will. But now he seems to be making a return to the screen, but alongside his son once more (both of them were in the true story drama, The Pursuit of Happyness). And it’s quite an interesting project.

The as yet untitled movie is set 1000 years in the future and follows an estranged father and son exploring an empty Earth when their spaceship crashes on the planet? But what could have happened to Earth I hear you ask? Probably something with Global Warming, but we’ll see what Book of Eli screenwriter Gary Whitta shall deliver.

And it turns out that M. Night Shyamalan, the man behind The Sixth Sense may be co-writing and is locking in a deal to direct. Shyamalan needs a hit after his last two films The Happening and The Last Airbender were poorly received and were a far cry from his earlier movies. No news yet on when this movie will be kicking off, but expect it to sometime this year.
