The legendary film composer, John Barry has died at the age of 77, following a heart attack, after a long period of ill health.

During his illustrious career, he won 5 Oscars and gained an OBE . He has been responsible for some very iconic scores, from Born Free to Dances With Wolves. But he’ll always be remembered for his association with the James Bond franchise. He was brought in to help Monty Norman with scoring Dr. No then moving on to score some the most iconic Bond themes, with From Russia With Love, Goldfinger, On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, before finishing up with his last Bond score, The Living Daylights.

He was truly a great composer, who though had been long retired, still has an overwhelming influence over composers of today. Here is a YouTube clip featuring some of his best scores. May he rest in peace.
