The trailer for Hugh Jackman’ s upcoming sci-fi action movie set in the world of robot boxing has hit the net today!

Based on a short story by Richard Matheson (the man behind the book of I Am Legend) the film follows Jackman as Charlie Kenton, a former boxer who has seen his glory days replaced with robots, whom he now trains. Kenton is down on his luck, hustling whatever fight he cans to get by. But when his long-lost son turns back up, it forces him to re-evaluate his life, and together with his son he goes out to repair an abandoned robot called Atom, who has more to it then meets the eye.

Considering the movie isn’t out until next October, the effects look very impressive, being a combination of practical puppetry and CGI. The concept is an interesting one as well and looks like it has some gritty robot punch ups to boot. And all this from the director of Night at the Museum. No, seriously. The film hits cinemas on  October 7th 2011.
