The debut ‘annoucement’ trailer, as it is being called, for the next installment in the Transformers franchise, Dark of the Moon, has hit the net today, and it certainly looks intriguing.

Exact plot details are still a bit sketchy, but we know that the main villain will be Shockwave and the movie will cover the past of the Transformers, going back to the time of the Cold War, mostly revolving around the Space Race between the USA and USSR.

Check out the trailer below:

The moon landing footage is very impressive, especially considering it isn’t even finished footage yet, and the tone of the movie is certainly much more serious than the second movie, Revenge of the Fallen, which I didn’t think much of at all. But this footage looks promising, so hopefully Michael Bay has learnt from his ways. Shia LaBeouf, Josh Duhamel and Tyrese Gibson return to the cast and are joined by Patrick Dempsey, John Malkovich, Frances McDormand and Rosie Huntington-Whitley who will be replacing Megan Fox in the love interest role. Transformers: Dark of the Moon hits cinemas in July next year.
