A new trailer for the upcoming Coen Brothers movie, True Grit, has appeared online. The new movie is an adaptation of Charles Portis’ 1968 novel that has already been bought to the big screen in 1969 with John Wayne. Here, Jeff Bridges takes on the Wayne roll of drunk sharp-shooter Marshall Cockburn who is approached by a 14 year-old girl Mattie Ross (newcomer Hailee Steinfeld). She asks for his help to find the man who killed her father, Tom Chaney (Josh Brolin). Along with a Texas Ranger (Matt Damon) the three of them set out so Ross can see justice for the death of her father.

It certainly looks good, with lashings of the usual Coen visual flair and kooky dark humour. Bridges also looks to be making the role his own and staying away from Wayne’s incarnation, he definitely looks more bad-ass. Sorry Judge.

The film hits Stateside Christmas with a UK release date set for January 14th.
