Despite early rumours that Sony wanting to stay clear from the Mary-Jane Watson character for the new Spider-Man movie, there now comes news that actress Emma Stone (Superbad, Zombieland) is in talks to take on the role filled by Kirsten Dunst in the Sam Raimi movies. That what was originally assumed, considering Stone is a red-head in most of her films, but now it seems that Stone has landed the role of Spidey’s blonde-haired flame Gwen Stacy, alongside Andrew Garfield’s Peter Parker/Spider-Man. She’s shown good talent in the likes of  Zombieland and her new film Easy A  has been very well received Stateside. And she’s hot so that’s always a plus.

The rumours surrounding the villain remain the same, the most recent news being that Sony wants Philip Seymour Hoffman for Venom. Personally I think that’s too complex a character to begin with, particularly with the whole Symbonite storyline. Time shall tell with this one, watch this space.
