Mark Millar, the comic book creator behind the first Kick-Ass and Wanted as revealed that the Kick-Ass sequel, currently titled Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall, has been officially greenlit and shall begin production in about 9 months.

Matthew [Vaughn’ just wants to get ‘X-Men: First Class’ done next year then hopefully we’ll just go straight into ‘Kick-Ass 2,’ that’s the plan,” was what Millar had to say in a recent interview with MTV News.

He also revealed some details about the story details for the movie, which expands the amateur superhero world. “‘Kick-Ass 2’ follows immediately after ‘Kick-Ass.’ You see how Dave has inspired people to become amateur superheroes, Red Mist has inspired people in the sequel to become amateur super villains. So what we have is two rival gangs of super characters getting together in New York,” revealed Millar. “We go straight into what’s happened with Dave and Hit-Girl as well, picking up from where they left off in the last story. Hit-Girl has now been adopted by someone who’s saying that she’s not allowed to kill people anymore, she can’t be Hit-Girl anymore. Dave is getting deeper and deeper into this very dangerous hobby that he has which is going out every night and getting into fights, dressed in a superhero costume and he’s actually formed a superhero team.

This story could easily open up to some terrific new inventive characters as well as lead to some awesome action scenes, more so than the brilliant first installment. Kick-Ass is out on DVD and Blu-Ray on Monday and expect my review a short while after that!
