The new horror produced by Guillermo Del Toro, entitled Don’t Be Afraid of The Dark, has just launched its first teaser trailer. It certainly does suit the Gothic style of the poster that was handed out during Comic-Con.

The film is a remake of the 1973 TV movie of the same name and stars Guy Pearce and Katie Holmes. The story follows little girl Sally (newcomer Bailee Madison) who moves into a new house with her father (Pearce) and his girlfriend (Holmes). Sally unknowingly opens a mysterious door in the house and unleashes dark evil creatures who set out to terrorise the new inhabitants.

The trailer is very effective at establishing a fear factor, even though you just know something is about to jump out you. This is shaping up to be a fun Haunted House horror ride with some genuine scares, as from the brief glimpse in the trailer, the creatures do look rather creepy.

The Troy Nixey directed movie still has no release date for the UK, but hits stateside on 21st January 2011.
