With Predators having already grossed more than double its $40 Million budget, speculation of a sequel was bound to start-up soon. And producer Robert Rodriguez has given some information on the future of the franchise, and it is exactly what I thought might happen (if you’ve read my review you’ll know what I’m getting at). Rodriguez, in an interview with IGN said stated that Fox said:  ‘Let’s do some other ones. What other story ideas do you have?’

He went on to say that:

Because it was like, let’s test out the market with this one. They really wanted it to be pretty contained, pretty scaled-back. They didn’t want to put too many of the ideas into it that we could save for a second one. So we could see what the appetite was, because the bigger movie would actually be what comes following that. That kind of sets up a new storyline, new location and world, and then you can really go crazy from there.

He also revealed the plan would be to new writers to branch off from the concept that Rodriguez created. I personally think that is a great idea to find new and fresh talent and connect them to a highly successfully and established Hollywood franchise. He would over see the scripts and pick the best idea that broadens out the concept, which it is certainly ripe for. I say bring it on, Predators  has opened up many doors for the franchise and I can;t wait to see where it goes from here.
